String Theory, 2017
Collaborative design and installation, concept by Pilar Castillo.
36” x 48” data-mapping/design intervention.
String Theory was a site-specific and time based collaborative installation conducted with audience participation. The concept for the interactive component focused on constructing a visual representation in the form of an info-graphic, to expose the flow of travel and the concentration of tourism economy. The participant would interact with a passport, flag and two identical world maps, sharing their travel experience by connecting a string between their place of origin to the last country they visited. Each passport contained related information on the economic, political and social welfare of the least developed countries in the world.
